Good to Great focus on Student
Achievement

Every spring teachers, administrators
and the media highlight student academic achievement and
accomplishments by hosting culminating events, fairs and
ceremonies that spotlight student learning. At the same
time, each district receives student performance data from
New York State that provides us with a snapshot in time of
how our students are achieving longitudinally and compared
to similar students in local districts. This soft and hard
data provides a comprehensive look at how our students are
performing and how we are doing as a district. Recently we
received our 2009 Grades 3-8 English Language Arts and
Mathematics results.
Overall, our achievement levels at all
grades in both areas has improved year to year.
Longitudinally, we are experiencing real student growth over
time. While scores have improved statewide, Hilton CSD’s
increase in both subject areas is higher than the state and
county average. Our results also compared favorably to
component school districts within our BOCES.
Below are charts that show our
performance and ranking within BOCES 2.

Our
continued desire to improve the curriculum we teach, our
practices in the classroom and the programs that serves
students as outlined in the Instructional Framework are
having an impact on learning. This is a collective effort
that requires each of us to strive for personal improvement
both short and long term. Congratulations to everyone for
the work you have done to date.
Sincerely, Dave
David Dimbleby, Superintendent of
