Acceptable District Computer Services Use and Internet Filtering  The Hilton Central School District  is committed to ensuring the privacy of all our website users and the accuracy of all data within it.  As we strive to maintain the currency of all data contained within the website, no data within the website is guaranteed or deemed reliable.  The District provides Internet filtering as part of the District Computer Services; however, no filtering technology can guarantee that staff and students will be prevented from accessing all inappropriate locations. The users shall understand that communications on the District Computer Services are often public in nature. These services are monitored routinely by the school district, Internet providers and/or law enforcement agencies.  Hilton CSD Policy 8272 states: the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) shall cover any user of District Computer Services (DC Services). DC Services includes any and all access to the District network and District approved services. All users, including but not limited to, educators, support staff, parents and their children shall read, discuss and understand this AUP before using DC Services.  All users, as well as parents or guardians of minor children, should confirm their understanding of this AUP periodically. DC Services allows access to the Internet, which is a worldwide electronic network of computers allowing users to communicate electronically, share information, learn concepts and research subjects.  Students should be encouraged to utilize these resources to promote the exchange of information to further education and research and to facilitate academic development, personal growth and respect for diversity through technology use, information gathering, critical thinking, evaluation, and communication skills. The District provides Internet filtering as part of the DC Services; however, no filtering technology can guarantee that staff and students will be prevented from accessing all inappropriate locations. Collection of Personal Information The Hilton Central School District website does not collect personal information about individuals without their knowledge. Personal information may be requested when you engage in any of the following online activities: register on our site to use services available only to registered users; use district email; submit information for content or editorial purposes, such as news items, letters of opinion, press releases; submit information to the site via a form.
