"Believe in yourself; . . . Set goals" say Hilton Alumni Hall of Fame inductees

"Believe in yourself . . . . Set goals" was the message from the Hilton Alumni Hall of Fame inductees who were honored at ceremonies Feb. 5, 2010 in the Quest Elementary School auditorium.  More than 80 members of the school community, friends and family of the inductees were on hand.  Kenneth Juergens was unable to attend due to business conflicts; he as represented by John and Julie Alliet, former classmates from the Class of 1978. 

Congratulations to the four new inductees selected to join the Hilton High School Alumni Hall of Fame:

Audrey Cooper, Esq. '74, right with father, staff attorney at the NYS Attorney General's office in Rochester, NY; BS State University of New York at Brockport; JD, University at Buffalo; is a resident of Hilton, NY;  

Carl Forsythe, MBA '75, left with wife, President and CEO of Globe Composite Solutions Ltd. of Dallas, TX; BA Biochemistry, Columbia University; MBA Finance, Cornell University; is a resident of Hingham, MA; 

Col. Kenneth Juergens '78, Vice President, Joint Programs, Oshkosh Defense Corp. in Oshkosh, WI; BS, West Point; MBA with Honors, Babson College; Masters in National Security, US Naval War College; is a resident of Neenah, WI; 

Matthew Karpenko, DO, '92, right, center, Staff Member at Boca Raton Community Hospital in Hematology/Oncology; BS, Syracuse University with academic accolade Research Award, graduate of Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicines; is a resident of Delray Beach FL.

Nominating Deserving Alumni  Please complete a  Nominating application  Nominees/nominators submit an informational resume with attached documentation and recommendations to the Hilton Alumni Hall of Fame, c/o Superintendent David Dimbleby, 225 West Ave., Hilton, NY 14468.  The purpose of the Alumni Hall of Fame is to recognize Hilton High School Alumni who have achieved distinction, outstanding accomplishment or significant contribution to their school, family, career, community or personal life.  For further information, 585-392-1000 ext. 7043.  The Hall of Fame is prominently displayed in the auditorium of Hilton High School, 400 East Ave., Hilton, NY.  Open to graduates who have been out of school for 15 years or more, the HHS Alumni Hall of Fame seeks to recognize and honor alumni who have excelled in their careers and personal lives.  Selection is based on an individual's achievements, community and civic involvements and other exemplary life activities.  The first Hilton High School Alumni Hall of Fame Selection Committee was convened in 1999.  There have been 39 outstanding Hilton High School alumni who have been inducted in the Alumni Hall of Fame.  For further information: Superintendent David Dimbleby: 585-392-1000 ext. 7043.

 History of HHS Alumni Hall of Fame  The first Hilton High School Alumni Hall of Fame Selection Committee was convened in 1999.  There have been 39 outstanding Hilton High School alumni who have been inducted in the Alumni Hall of Fame. The Hilton High School Alumni Hall of Fame Selection Committee performs a review of each nominee's educational achievement; job-related achievements; honors and awards; community involvement; personal accomplishments; and/or any other appropriate qualifications which merit consideration. 

2006 Induction  In 2006 the Alumni Hall of Fame inducted nine outstanding alumni at Hilton High School. Inducted were: Brother James Almeter ‘64; Beulah “Johnnie Marshall” Bailey ‘38 in memoriam; David Crumb ‘60; Cathy Cushing Gardner ‘68; Jane Harris Grad ‘62; Al Skinner in memoriam; Robert G. Stephens ‘82; Renee Sorrentino, M.D. ‘90; and Mary Pickett Townsend ‘47.  The Hall of Fame honored the longest-serving sheriff in Monroe County history, Sheriff Al Skinner, who graduated from a one-room schoolhouse on Manitou Road centralized into the Hilton School District in 1949.  In addition: Beulah “Johnnie Marshall” Bailey ‘38, a race car driver and pilot; David Crumb '60, a professor at RIT; Robert G. Stephens, a career Navy Officer; Brother James Almeter ‘64, a Cistercian Monk at the Abbey of the Genesee; Mary Townsend ‘47, the Hilton Village Historian; and Renee Sorrentino, M.D. ‘90, a forensic psychiatrist practicing in Boston.
