Hilton Central School District Fitness Centers Staff Rules & Regulations

The Hilton Central School District Fitness Centers are intended to provide students with a clean, safe and enjoyable place to exercise for general fitness purposes and to promote a healthy lifestyle. Opportunities for faculty and staff to utilize the facilities to promote a healthy lifestyle are also available. It is the intent of the district to include the community in the use of the Fitness Centers through continuing education and the Hilton Parma Recreation Department after reviewing the use by students, faculty and staff.   In providing a clean, safe and enjoyable place in which to exercise, the Hilton Central School District expects that participants will abide by the rules and regulations of the facility.   Individuals who utilizing the facilities acknowledge that they are using the facility at their own risk and have agreed to assume all risks of injury and damage involved in utilizing said facility.  All participants agree they are in proper physical condition to use the facility. Hilton Central School District is not responsible for any injury whatsoever that may occur to individuals participating in any activity or use of any equipment.   No staff member should utilize the Fitness Center unaccompanied. The “Buddy System” will be utilized by staff using the Fitness Center facilities. Students will be supervised by a trained adult over the age of 21. Students will have preference for the use of the facilities. Staff members may be asked to move to a different area of the Fitness Center or may be asked to come back at another time if space is needed for student athletes.  The Rock Climbing walls are available only during the instructional day to students. Only trained physical education staff will supervise students using the Rock Climbing walls.  

The Fitness Centers are open daily, Monday-Friday, when school is in session, as follows:  
6:00 – 7:15 AM              [Merton Williams Middle School and the High School] Available to faculty and staff use.  
7:15 AM-2:15 PM           Open only for Physical Education Classes during the instructional day.  
2:15-3:15 PM                 Open for PE Make-ups or Intramurals. Student-athletes may use the facility Monday-Friday only under the supervision of a Coach, P.E. Teacher, or Athletic Trainer.  
3:15-4:15 PM                 Open for individual use for staff (using the “Buddy System.” and student-athletes [under the Supervision of a Coach, P.E. Teacher, or Athletic Trainer]     
4:30-10:00 PM               Merton Williams Fitness Center-Open only with the appropriately approved facilities request form.  
4:30-10:00 PM               High School Fitness Center-Open to Interscholastic Sport’s teams, Coaches or other supervised programs [ex.Hilton CSD Community Education or Hilton Parma Recreation]

Note: Student-athletes may use the facility only under the supervision of a Coach, P.E. Teacher, or Athletic Trainer.  Participant smust sign in upon entering the Fitness Center and sign out when leaving the Fitness Center.   Participants must wear proper attire as follows: No sandals or open-toed shoes are allowed. Only athletic shoes are permitted.  Participants must wear shoes at all times. Athletic clothing must be worn during the participants’ time utilizing the Fitness Center.  Participants must wear a shirt and shorts or pants at all times. Participants must maintain the Fitness Center as follows: Follow all instructions regarding the proper use of equipment as posted or directed.  Return all equipment to its original place and condition. Discard any trash. Water or non-alcoholic beverages are allowed only if contained in a sealable, plastic container. No food is allowed. Walkman, Radios and Discman type personal headsets are permitted provided the participant uses headphones and at a volume audible to the person only. Wipe equipment after each use with a towel or paper towel. Remove towels and all cloths used to wipe down equipment Report damaged equipment on the sign in/sign out sheet or directly to the     building principal during the instructional day and to the Director of Athletics after the instructional day. Report injuries immediately to the building principal during the instructional day or to the Director of Athletics after the instructional day. Respect the authority of the building principal, Director of Athletics or assigned Fitness Center staff and respond to their directions appropriately. The Hilton Central School District reserves the right to refuse service to any participant(s) who violates any rule, policy, directive or regulation regarding access or use of the Fitness Center or engages in any verbal and/or physical confrontation or abuse of the Fitness Center staff or participants.
