Hilton Central students and teachers are making a difference in many ways throughout the wider community of Hilton, Rochester and Monroe County.

Community Service and Fund-Raising Projects performed by Hilton Schools Students and Teachers  Hilton students and staff community service takes many forms including Make A Difference Day, National Honor Society, Chase Challenge, Participation in Government, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, International Baccalaureate Community Action Service [CAS], student councils, and individual school and classroom projects.  Parent and community groups including Music Boosters, Sports Boosters, VEPTO and PTSO as well as the Hilton Education Foundation all work to support the wider community through positive volunteering and fund-raising efforts. 

Hilton is 'Making Strides'   Hilton school groups walk annually in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event in downtown Rochester, NY. Through fundraising online and in person, they have raised significant funds in support of the American Cancer Society's fight against breast cancer. The money raised is used to help breast cancer victims get well and to work on research in the fight against breast cancer. Team Tydings pictured. - read more -

Quest Elementary kindergartners raise money for the HOPE animal rescue  Quest Elementary’s kindergarten classes made Valentine Cards. Each card was lovingly decorated by a kindergarten friend.  All proceeds from Cards for Kittens went to the HOPE animal rescue. Teachers to contact are: Loni Butlin.

Holiday Sharing  Northwood Elementary held a Blanket Project for the Golisano Children's Hospital - Fourth grade students in teacher Lauren Steinbach's classroom made comforting blankets for hospitalized children in the Golisano Children's Hospital.  Village Elementary Student Council helps VE Food Service fill shoe boxes of personal products for a donation to Rochester's Open Door Mission during the holiday season.

Middle School students work for peace Merton Williams Middle Schools celebrate International Day of Peace

Northwood Elementary Math-A-Thon benefits St. Jude's Hospital:  In 2011 the Northwood raised $6,760.94 to benefit children at St. Jude’s Hospital through this year’s Math-A-Thon!  In 2010 the Northwood community has raised $3,795 to benefit children at St. Jude’s Hospital. With Love for Haiti  Kindergartners in Quest Elementary made valentines for Haiti and raised over $500 for the relief efforts.

The Ride for Missing and Exploited Children  Support our teachers! They will be on a 100-mile bike ride to benefit the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.   Consider sponsoring with a small donation. The mission of the Ride is to remember all missing children; spread awareness on the plight of all missing and exploited children; and raise funds to support prevention education programs, poster distribution and the mission of The Ride for National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.  For more: NCMEC Bike Ride.
