Elementary third grader, Alexis Lane's art work, at left,
was displayed on Artsonia's 'Big Screen' in New York City in
March during the 2012 National Art Education
Association Convention. The artwork appeared on a giant
30 x 16 ft. outdoor LED screen which showcases artistic
talent. Alexis is a student of art teacher Ariana
D'Angelo. Her Artist Statement: "This is a folk art
landscape. My favorite part of this artwork are all of the
dots that I made with a crayon dipped into the flame of a
candle. I wish that I used some more colors for the grass. I
was inspired by my very own hou se to create this artwork
because I have lots of trees and a swing set in my yard.
Plus, I also want a tire swing someday! By creating this
artwork, I learned that you can use old crayons in a new way
by dipping them in a candle flame and dotting your paper. It
was fun! " -
