Seventh Annual Evening of Jazz set for
Feb. 5 at 7 pm at Merton Williams Middle School Auditorium;
GRAMMY winning trumpeter Randy Brecker featured artist
The community is cordially invited to
enjoy Hilton CSD’s Seventh Annual Evening of Jazz set for
Friday, February 5, 2010, at Merton Williams Middle
School, 200 School La., Hilton. “The event starts at
7pm and includes performances by the Merton Williams Middle
School Jazz Ensemble, Spencerport High School Jazz Ensemble,
the Hilton High School Jazz Ensemble," Instrumental
Music Teacher Jared Streiff said. "Five time Grammy winning
Jazz Trumpeter Mr. Randy Brecker is the featured artist.
He will be fronting a band of local area professional
musicians and music educators! "
Tickets are $13 and can be
purchased pre-sale by contacting Hilton HS Band Director,
Jared Streiff at 585-392-1000 ext. 2293 or purchase them at
the door. Seating is limited. The Evening of Jazz
is an annual event held in February highlighting the musical
talents of Hilton’s instrumental Jazz Students in grades
7-12. It is also a fundraiser for the Hilton Music
Boosters, an all volunteer parent organized group dedicated
to the future of students musical and academic careers.
The purpose of the “Hilton Music
Booster. Inc.”, is to bring together and encourage, under
one common bond an interest by young people in the music
program within the limits of the Hilton Central School
District, county of Monroe, State of New York. To raise or
assist in the raising of funds for the purpose of
“supporting all music programs and music activities in the
Hilton Central School District including competitions, field
trips and all units involved in these programs” according to
Mr. Streiff.
Randy Brecker has been shaping the
sound of Jazz, R&B and Rock for more than four decades said
Mr. Streiff. "His trumpet and flugelhorn performances have
graced hundreds of albums by a wide range of artists from
James Taylor, Bruce Springsteen and Parliament-Funkadelic to
Frank Sinatra, Steely Dan, David Sanborn, Jaco Pastorius,
Horace Silver and Frank Zappa. In 2008, Randy’s newest CD,
“Randy in Brasil,” was chosen one of the Top CD’s of 2008 by

The CD won the Grammy for 'Best Contemporary Jazz Album'
bringing Randy’s Grammy total to five. As a composer,
performer and in-demand Yamaha clinician, Randy
Brecker continues to influence and inspire young musicians
around the world."
