Hilton High School Art Student wins $1,000 scholarship

Hilton High School senior art student Jennifer Goodwin has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship from ArtPeace  which celebrates and showcases the visual art and performance talents of high school students in Monroe County and promotes art organizations in the Rochester community.  Art Peace is an affiliate of the national City at Peace, an international youth development program.

Opening, Friday, May 7, 2010, the ArtPeace Shakedown's High School Arts Exhibition was held at Village Gate Square, 274 Goodman St. in Rochester.  Hilton High School senior Jennifer Goodwin won a $1,000 scholarship based on her piece that was submitted to the show.  Her work, Puppy Dog a large scale (23”x36”) charcoal portrait of her dog, at right, was done in Ms. Christine VerWeire’s Portfolio class.  Her piece was one of three chosen for scholarships at the Shakedown Exhibition that included participation from schools throughout Monroe County.
