Hilton High School Volleyball star signs to play Division 1 at Coastal Carolina

Hilton Hilton High School's Melissa McGwin will play volleball for Div. 1 Coastal Carolina University beginning next semester.  Having earned enough credits to finish her high school program early, McGwin travels to Conway, SC in January where she has accepted a full scholarship.  "I plan to study Marine Science," she said.  New to Hilton's volleyball program, a varsity player since 2008, McGwin was influenced by watching beach volleyball's Olympic stars Misty May-Treanor and Kerrie Walsh who won two gold medals in doubles in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

McGwin has played basketball and is a competitive dancer.  She was a middle blocker for Hilton.  Her volleyball coach is Kevin Hunt who has a three year record of 26-10 and was the 2009 coach of the year for Division II.  The team was 2009-10 Monroe County Sect. V, Class AA, Division II Champions.    PHOTO Melissa McGwin, Hilton High School Volleyball player, with varsity team members, signs Letter of Intent to play at Div. 1 Coastal Carolina University.
