Quest students' Exhibition "Clean Up the
Creek" Day held May 11 on Salmon Creek
Students in teacher Brenda
Carpenter's class , Nicole Sarlo and Tom Podgers,
enlisted the support of their classmates as well as
working collaboratively with the Village of Hilton
for an action for their Exhibition project to clean
up the Village Park that runs along the perimeter of
the school including the area from the outdoor
classroom to the Jennejahn Lodge.
The central idea of the exhibition
project is: "Citizens should
help their community."
More than 250 students from the school
were prepared with boots, jackets and gloves to help pick up
litter. They gathered for kickoff assembly at 9 am
following by clean-up until about 11:30 am. Mayor of Hilton
Joe Lee and several Village officials were on hand for the
e vent.
Exhibitions are presented in students'
final year of the school's International Baccalaureate
Primary Years Programme [PYP]. Exhibitions are extended,
collaborative inquiry projects under the guidance of their
teachers. The exhibition represents a significant event in
the life of both the school and student, synthesizing the
essential elements of the Programme and sharing them with
the whole school community. It is an opportunity for
students to exhibit the attributes of the student profile
that have been developing throughout their engagement with
the Primary Years Programme. For more about the Quest PYP:
