Hilton Central Board of Education sets
tax rates for 2009-10; reduction from estimated rates in all
four towns
The Hilton Board of Education approved
the tax rates for residents of the Hilton School District at
their August 11, 2009.
"We are recommending the budgeted levy of $31,599,820," Mr.
Ayers said. "This reflects an appropriated fund balance of
$100,000. Two changes have occurred affecting the tax
rates in opposite directions: the Town of Hamlin
equalization rate has been finalized by the State at 43%
this year. Our projections had anticipated a rate of 44%.
This has an impact on Hamlin rates and on other towns. We
had provided for zero assessment growth in all towns but
Greece where we projected a 3% growth. This would have
yielded an overall increase of 1.42% in total assessments.
The actual growth in assessments was 2.67%."

"Our budget projections came in better
than expected in every town except Hamlin due to the greater
