Kyle Russell, a 2013 Hilton grad, was featured in the latest issue of NYSUT United Magazine where he writes about why he decided to become a teacher. He credits his Hilton High School science teachers, Jennifer Howell and Maria Vowles, for inspiring and motivating him to enter the field of teaching. Claire Drexler’s Health Essentials class at MW has been very busy learning life skills for the kitchen, such as measuring food, safety, healthy recipes, family traditions, working as a team, listening, and many more. This week they enjoyed making Henry Hunsinger’s favorite recipe to cook with his mom and grandmother – Mama Hunsinger’s Rice Krispy Craker Chicken. The results were very yummy!

Students in Candice Hudson’s English as a New Language class at Northwood decorated their classroom with books and beautiful lanterns from home in preparation for Ramadan. The Muslim students and their families fast from sunrise to sunset during this holy time, which begins the evening of Sunday, Mar. 10 and goes until Tuesday, Apr. 9. The class also read the book Lailah’s Lunchbox: A Ramadan Story by Reem Faruqi. The story is about a girl who moves to a new country and worries that her classmates won’t understand why she doesn’t join them in the lunchroom.
