What a way to spend part of the morning. The annual Unified Basketball exhibition game for the staff and students at the high school. A great game, and a great crowd.

Let's learn about this week's Hilton Hero! "Shannon facilitates, with a positive attitude, One Healthy Village, which creates a learning environment for students and staff to be welcomed and curious, in a variety of activities. She also takes the time to plan activities in and out of school, that gets the staff together to create a positive culture for all staff. Shannon creates the safe space and time, for students and staff, to converse respectfully. A colleague, that collaborates not just with her team, but the entire school community."

Last night Hilton Superintendent Dr. Casey Kosiorek joined High School senior Shawn Nordstrom as Shawn was presented the Dr. Michael C. O'Laughlin Award as the district's Outstanding Senior. Congratulations Shawn!

MW staff enjoyed Biscuits with the Boss as part of this week's Staff Appreciation! Staff at all buildings have been celebrating with treats all week as a thank-you for all of their hard work & dedication. Many thanks also go out to the parents & volunteers who made it all happen!

Delaney Graves, a Hilton High School senior was the recipient of a Do the Right Thing Award, presented by the Rochester Police Department and the City of Rochester. Delaney has made a drastic turnaround in her time at the high school, both academically, where her GPA has improved from the 60s to the 90s, and in terms of her behavior. Last night, educators from 9 different districts in the area gathered at the high school for a leadership symposium. Some great thoughts from school leaders and students about building organizational culture. Special thanks to Dr. Rudd and Dr. Green for organizing this event.

Congratulations to Nancy Leport, Rick Francis & the Hilton Alumni Assoc. for being honored as ACT for Education 2024 Community Champions for Public Education. We are so grateful for all this organization has done for our students & staff!

Meet Hilton Hero Kim Giacolone! "Every day she exhibits the characteristics of being welcoming and affirming, and curious, not judgmental. Helping our staff, students and even the nurses in the office with anything that may come her way. She goes above and beyond for late arrivals and early dismissals. She is a nurturing face to many of our students who honorarily call her 'the other nurse'. Village would not be the same without her!"

A great way to start the day at Northwood! Students and staff were treated to fantastic performances from the bands and choruses!

Sending a heartfelt thank you to our five Hilton CSD principals on this School Principals' Day! We are grateful for your hard work every day, dedication, visionary thinking, and for keeping our schools running smoothly. #Welcoming #Affirming #CadetProud

When it comes to the SkillsUSA Leadership Conference and Skills Competition success runs in the Prus family. This past weekend Hilton High School and WEMOCO CTE Center student Evan, a junior, took second place with three other teammates in the Teamworks event at the New York State Fairgrounds. Evan’s brother, Iliya, who graduated from Hilton last year took third in the same competition in 2023 and first the year before. Iliya advanced to the 2022 SkillsUSA National conference in Atlanta where he and his teammates placed 14th out of 43 teams competing.
Evan is completing his first year of the HVAC/ Plumbing program that WEMOCO offers to Hilton High junior and senior students who are eligible. The competition is designed to evaluate team preparation for future employment and to recognize outstanding students for excellence and professionalism in the field of residential carpentry, roofing, masonry, plumbing, electrical and teamwork skills.
The brothers have now accumulated a gold, silver and bronze medal with the potential for more in 2025.
Congratulations to Evan from everyone at Hilton Central Schools.

Students in Sunnie Tobias’ Exploring Health Careers class had a chance to learn about Holistic medicine from Stephanie Krebs, owner of Body Sense Healthcare and Nutrition in Attica.
Ms. Krebs spoke to the students about the frequencies in the human body and how reading those frequencies can lead to non-traditional treatments. She also emphasized the importance of caring for not only their bodies, but their minds and emotional health as well. She even gave each person in the class a total body analysis to determine what they might need more, or less of in their diets.
This was one of a series of visits from people in the health care field that will be taking place. Other speakers include a paramedic, a nurse in pediatric heart surgery, a chiropractor, and a midwife.

It was a weekend to remember for Northwood’s 5th grade inventors in Melanie Klock’s REACH Class who competed in the Western New York Invention Convention. Inventors were randomly placed in three different groups and competed against more that 250 other inventors.
At the end of the day there was one student who was named Inventor of the Year and chosen to compete at the National Invention Convention in Dearborn, Michigan in June, Carter Tsang and his invention, Buzz Off!

Need a way to organize all your charging cords, a device to locate your dog in case they get lost, how about something to reduce that pesky and dangerous glare through the windshield when you're driving? If any of those sound like something you could use, then Northwood’s Invention Convention had what you were looking for.
Fifth grade students in the REACH class presented their creations in the auditorium on April 25. What these students might lack in experience, they make up for with creativity and enthusiasm. Students did research to discover common problems, used the design process to produce solutions and then planned, designed and created their inventions.
These presentations served as a warmup for the Western New York State Invention Convention which will be held this weekend in Buffalo. The top finalists from there will move on to the National Invention Convention at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan. Northwood students have won the state competition for the last two years so hopefully they can make it three in a row!
A very special thanks to Cheryl Lee and Kim Browne who served as our judges.
